FAQ

  • What does a basic cleaning include?

A basic cleaning appointment includes a deep clean to the crumb tray and floor of the laser, flushing the water chiller, inspecting lubricants on the gantries and z-axis lift rods, heavy degreasing of the laser blades, inpecting the exhaust system, vacuuming hard to reach areas, glass cleaning, inspecting and cleaning your lenses and mirrors, and various other tasks that while tedious, all contribute to a machine running in top form.

  • What type of lasers do you service?

We are experienced in cleaning and maintaining lasers of all sizes and brands. Aeon Laser, Thunder Laser, Omtech, Boss Lasers, Universal Laser Systems, Trotec, Chinese K40 lasers, Glowforge, Full Spectrum Laser, Epilog Lasers, and more.

  • Do you offer mirror alignments?

Yes! We are experienced in performing alignments on Aeon, Thunder, Omtech, Boss, Universal, Trotec lasers, and more. Mirror alignment is available to add to your booking for an additional $90. Alignment can add 60-90 minutes to the total service time, depending on how out off track your system is.

  • How long does service take?

Service length can vary from 2.5 to 6 hours, depending on the model, size, condition, what materials you primarily work with, and whether or not your laser has ever been cleaned before. We will collect information from you after your booking that will help us estimate the service time we expect your machine will require.

  • Can you clean my Glowforge?

Yes! We will happily clean all Glowforge lasers. Thanks to the compact size and construction of the Glowforge, those appointments usually take 2-3 hours, no longer. Due to this variation, we have Glowforge broken out into its own calendar for booking. Glowforge service also includes an inspection or your laser head belt, print head carriage wheels, and other consumable components. If you have ordered new wheels or belts to have on hand at the time of service we will install them for free in our service.

  • What is this about an "Extra Dirty Laser Fee"?

There are instances in which your laser may be in a condition that is so well loved and put through the paces, that it will require more than an extra hour to completely clean your machine. When you submit your photos at booking, we will verify if your machine meets that criteria, but we offer the option to self-select the fee if you believe it meets the criteria.

To see photos of a machine that meets the “Extra Dirty” criteria, see here and here.

  • Do you offer repairs?

Our service is not a replacement for a manufacturer’s warranty technician to do repairs on your machines. For consumable replacements and troubleshooting, such as lenses and mirrors, we are able to replace those for you at the time of cleaning, if you have the replacement parts on hand and ready.

  • Do you power wash the honeycomb bed?

While we are not currently able to offer pressure washing to recondition your burnt and blackened honeycomb, we hope to be able to offer it soon.

  • Can you teach me Lightburn?

Yes! We offer personal 1:1 training on vector design software, laser cutting in action, and your personal laser. Typical training blocks are 3-4 hours and can be scheduled using this calendar.

  • What if I have 2 lasers on site?

You can have both your lasers cleaned together! To have an additional laser cleaned on the same day, we offer a slightly reduced 2nd laser add-on fee.
