Precision Restored: Epilog Fusion M2 Deep Clean
An awards shop relies on crisp, flawless engraving—and a clean laser is key to achieving that perfection. One Stop Awards & Apparel in Woodbridge, VA had a workshorse of a laser in their Epilog Fusion M2, equipped with an active air assist and downdraft table. The machine had been in operation for 8 years without a deep clean.
Hidden within the ventilation system was years worth of soot, ash, gunk, and debris, restricting airflow and starting to impact performance. By clearing out the buildup, we restored proper ventilation, improving airflow which reduces charring and burning when engraving or cutting wood and other organic materials.
The optics system—lens and mirrors— was also in dire need of attention, having gained a cloudy appearance, which can impact power and accuracy by scattering the beam. This can result poor cutting results, inconsistent engraving depth, and in extreme cases can cause burn spots on the optics if left uncleaned.
